How Lilac Constructions Pty Ltd collects, uses, stores and protects your personal information, written plainly, governed by the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

Lilac Constructions Pty Ltd (ABN 11 668 996 781) ("Lilac Constructions", "we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting the privacy of individuals who interact with our business, prospective and current clients, website visitors, and third-party contacts.
This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, store and protect personal information in compliance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), the Spam Act 2003 (Cth), and where applicable the Do Not Call Register Act 2006 (Cth).
It applies to all personal information collected through any channel, our website, online lead forms, Meta advertising platforms (Facebook and Instagram), telephone, email and in person. By submitting your information, you acknowledge you have read this policy and consent to our handling of your information as described.
What personal information we collect
We collect only what is reasonably necessary to operate as a residential building and renovation company.
2.1 Information you provide directly
- Full name
- Email address
- Mobile phone number
- Residential postcode or suburb
- Property type and renovation scope (e.g. bathroom size, desired fixtures)
- Budget range (where voluntarily disclosed)
- Preferred contact times
- Anything else you include in a message or enquiry form
2.2 Information collected automatically
- IP address and approximate geographic location
- Browser type, device type, and operating system
- Pages viewed, time on site, and referral source
- Meta Pixel data (Facebook/Instagram ad interaction and conversion events)
- Cookies and similar tracking technologies (see §8)
2.3 Sensitive information
We do not intentionally collect sensitive information (as defined in the Privacy Act 1988, including health, financial or biometric data) through our standard enquiry process. If sensitive information is provided incidentally, it will be treated with additional care and used only for the purpose for which it was provided.

- Online lead forms and contact forms on our website
- Lead generation forms on Meta platforms (Facebook and Instagram), including Instant Forms linked to our advertisements
- Email and telephone enquiries
- In-person meetings, site visits and consultations
- Referrals from third parties (e.g. past clients or trade partners)
- Publicly available sources (e.g. LinkedIn, business directories)
Where practicable we collect personal information directly from the individual concerned. Where we collect from a third party, we will take reasonable steps to notify you.
Why we collect and use your information
- Respond to renovation enquiries and provide accurate quotations
- Schedule and conduct site visits and consultations
- Communicate updates regarding your project or enquiry
- Manage contracts and deliver renovation services
- Send marketing communications where permitted by law
- Comply with legal and regulatory obligations, including the Domestic Building Contracts Act 1995 (Vic)
- Improve our website, services, and marketing effectiveness
- Manage business operations including invoicing, warranties, and after-service follow-up
We will not use your personal information for a secondary purpose without your consent, unless that use is directly related to the primary purpose and you would reasonably expect it.
Disclosure of personal information
5.1 Third parties we share with
- Licensed subcontractors and trade partners (plumbers, tilers, electricians) engaged on your project
- Building material suppliers where project specifications must be communicated
- Business software providers, CRM, scheduling (cal.com), email marketing, hosting, analytics
- Meta Platforms Inc. for advertising measurement and Custom Audiences (subject to Meta's privacy policy)
- Legal and financial advisers, where necessary
- Government agencies or regulators, where required or authorised by law
5.2 We do not sell your data
Lilac Constructions does not and will not sell, rent or trade your personal information to any third party for commercial gain.
5.3 Overseas disclosure
Some technology providers may store or process data on servers located outside Australia. By providing your information to us, you consent to this potential overseas disclosure. Relevant jurisdictions may include the United States (Meta Platforms, Inc.; cloud hosting) and Ireland (Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd). We do not transfer data to countries with materially inadequate data-protection laws without appropriate contractual safeguards.
Data storage and security
All personal information is stored in Australia or with cloud providers maintaining servers in Australia or comparable jurisdictions. We implement commercially reasonable technical and organisational security measures, including:
- Password-protected access controls for all business systems
- Encrypted storage and transmission of data where technically feasible
- Restricted access on a need-to-know basis
- Regular review of our data handling practices
While we take reasonable precautions, no system is completely secure. If you believe your information has been compromised, contact us immediately (§11).
Retention of personal information
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, including legal, contractual or regulatory obligations.
Under Victorian building and consumer-protection laws, including the Domestic Building Contracts Act 1995 (Vic) and the Building Act 1993 (Vic), we retain records relating to building work for a minimum of seven (7) years from project completion.
Marketing-related data (contact details of enquirers who did not proceed to contract) is retained for a maximum of two (2) years unless you withdraw consent earlier. After that, data is securely deleted or de-identified.
Marketing communications
We may send marketing communications, renovation tips, seasonal promotions, service updates, only if:
- You have provided express consent at the time of submitting your enquiry, or
- You are an existing client and we are communicating about substantially similar services (as permitted under the Spam Act 2003 (Cth))
Every marketing message includes a clear, functional unsubscribe mechanism. Opt out at any time by:
- Clicking 'Unsubscribe' in any marketing email
- Emailing hello@lilacconstructions.com.au with subject 'Unsubscribe'
- Calling the number listed on our website
We process unsubscribe requests within five (5) business days.
Your rights under the Privacy Act 1988
10.1 Right of access
You may request access to the personal information we hold about you. We will respond within thirty (30) days. Access may be refused in limited circumstances (e.g. unreasonable prejudice to the privacy of another individual), in which case we will provide written reasons.
10.2 Right to correction
If information we hold is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date, you may request correction. We will take reasonable steps to correct it within thirty (30) days.
10.3 Right to deletion (erasure)
You may request deletion where information is no longer required for the purpose for which it was collected, subject to legal retention obligations (§7). We will acknowledge requests within fifteen (15) business days.
10.4 Right to complain
If you believe we have breached the Australian Privacy Principles, lodge a complaint with us first. We will investigate and respond within thirty (30) days. If unsatisfied, escalate to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC):

Changes to this policy
